In 2012 the Heritage Quilters’ Guild members began making quilts following the guidelines of the Quilts of Valor Foundation.  The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover all combat service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.  This foundation is not about politics; it’s about people.  Their website is here.

Unlike our Kids’ Quilts, Indiana Veterans’ Home Quilts, and quilts for the Hoosier Burn Camp, Quilts of Valor are usually patriotic red/white/blue quilts and have a specific size range and fabric requirement.   You can find that information  here.

QOVF is a 501C-3 not for profit foundation.  Funds are needed for usual quilting supplies like backing and batting.  Funds are also needed for shipping the quilts to hospitals overseas where they are needed, unfortunately, on a daily basis.  Please get in touch with QOVF to make donations.

THANK YOU for anything you do to help HONOR these brave military personnel. Quilt of Valor quilts are made and given as a way to provide comfort and healing, and to show gratitude to a military person who served to protect our country and our freedom.

Our major task in the fall of 2012 was to have 90 quilts completely finished by December 1 for presentation to the Indiana National Guard – 713th Engineer Company based in Valparaiso.  A website that talks about the unit’s arrival back home to Indiana can be found here.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED:  Through the efforts of an unknown number of quilt top makers, longarm quilters, label makers and hand sewers the goal was meet!  Many thanks to those that made monetary donations to help with supplies such as backing and batting and shipping overseas. Here are links to articles and pictures in the Northwest Indiana Times Newspaper online edition.
